SINGAPORE — The novel coronavirus outbreak has caused multiple disruptions to business, arts and sports in Singapore, with many of the upcoming events being cancelled or postponed. Here is a list of affected events:

Business events/conferences/seminars

NATAS Travel Fair 2020: The travel fair by National Association of Travel Agents Singapore (NATAS), which was originally to be held at the Singapore Expo from 21 to 23 February, has been postponed until 1 to 3 May. About 90 exhibitors, ranging from travel agencies, airlines and hotels, were supposed to be part of the travel fair.

SGX Active Traders Fair: The 22 February event, scheduled to be held at the Singapore Exchange (SGX) Auditorium, has been cancelled. This fair would have featured a market outlook panel, on-the-spot technical analysis and strategies for trading stocks, warrants and daily leveraged certificates.

Citibank Asia Pacific Investor Conference: The annual conference, into its 17th edition this year, has been spiked. It was scheduled to be held from 19 to 20 February, and usually attracts over 1,000 institutional investors, issuers and C-suite financial professionals.

Singapore Yacht Show 2020: The annual event, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, was to be held from 19 to 22 March. It has been now postponed till October this year, although the exact dates are yet to be agreed with host venue partner ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove.

Women Entrepreneurs Development Program (WEDP): The second edition of WEDP, organised by Proctor & Gamble in partnership with WEConnect, was to be held on Valentine’s Day but has now been postponed.

Arts/Entertainment events

Middle East Film Festival 2020: The film festival, scheduled to be held from 14 to 19 February at Golden Village VivoCity, has been postponed. Organisers will announce the new festival dates once confirmed. 

Singapore Mental Health Film Festival: Originally scheduled to be held from 27 February to 1 March at the National Gallery Singapore, the film festival will be held at a later date to be confirmed.

K-Pop concerts: Four K-Pop concerts have either been axed or postponed – Taeyeon’s 1 February concert at Singapore Indoor Stadium, Winner’s 8 February concert at The Star Theatre, NCT Dream’s 15 February concert at The Star Theatre, and Got7’s 22 February concert at Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Stereofest: Billed as the first and largest Malay pop music festival in Singapore, Stereofest – originally to be held on 22 and 23 February at Palawan Green, Sentosa – will now take place between July and September. The festival would have featured 15 acts from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

Esplanade events: The Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay has put off Welsh multi-instrumentalist Novo Amor’s concerts on 5 and 6 March to 28 and 29 July. It had already canned several performances at the Huayi Chinese Festival of Arts, which ended on 9 February, as the Chinese artists involved were unable to travel from China to Singapore due to travel restrictions.

Are You There, Singapore?: Local theatre company The Stage Club's production of playwright Robert Yeo's classic Are You There, Singapore? has also been postponed. The show, which was planned to be staged at KC Arts Centre from 5 to 8 February, has been moved to end of March. New dates have yet to be finalised.

The Nuclear Family: Checkpoint Theatre’s production The Nuclear Family, originally to be staged at the Drama Centre from 12 to 22 March, has been pushed back to March 2021.

First Fleet: Nine Years Theatre’s production First Fleet, which was due to run from 14 to 23 February at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre auditorium, will now take place in March 2020.

Flying High: The Singapore Repertory Theatre said that its Little Company production Flying High, originally slate dfor 19 February, has been pushed back to 23 March.

NUS Arts Festival: The National University of Singapore’s flagship arts event on campus from 13 to 28 March has been scrapped. The NUS Centre for the Arts also said that discussions are ongoing to postpone most of the student productions to a later part of the year. Meanwhile, the NUS Alumni has said that all alumni events until mid-March are off.

Control Chaos: 25 Years of PHUNK Exhibition: The exhibition at National Design Centre from 14 February to 20 March will proceed, but its “Creative Conversations with PHUNK” talk show on 22 February will be rescheduled to a later date, yet to be announced.

i Light Singapore 2020: The i Light Singapore 2020 light art festival, scheduled to be held from 6 to 29 March, has been postponed. The new dates will be announced in due course.

Sports events

HSBC Women’s World Championship: The prestigious golf tournament at Sentosa Golf Club, which was to be held from 27 February to 1 March, is off. It has been held annually in Singapore since 2008, and would have featured the top 20 women’s golfers in the world.

Singapore Sports Hub: The National Stadium Open House, which was scheduled to be held over two weekends in February, will not proceed. The Sports Hub will update patrons on any Open House events that might be postponed or scratched.

National Sports Games: With the Ministry of Education cancelling all inter-school and external school activities until the end of the March school holidays, the National Sports Games – which kicked off in January – has been suspended.

Singapore Bowling Federation: The Primary/Secondary School League 2020, which kicked off earlier this month at SingaporeBowling@Rifle Range bowling alley, has been cancelled. Singapore Bowling Federation said the decision was made to allay the health concerns of participants and their parents.

Fencing Singapore: Fencing Singapore (FSI) has axed three events – the Novice (Team) Fencing Championships on 8 and 9 February, the FSI Senior Team Events on 16 February and the Minime (U10/U12) Invitational on 14 and 15 March. Meanwhile, the FSI/Asian Veteran Circuit tournament on 15 and 16 February will feature only individual events.

Singapore Disability Sports Council: The council has scrubbed the World Para Swimming World Series Singapore event, originally to be held from 1 to 3 May. It has also postponed four events until further notice – Singapore Para Cycling Championships (15 February), Haw Par National Junior and Youth Athletics Championships (13 March), Haw Par National Swimming Championships (27 March), and its Learn-to-Shoot programme during March and April.

Singapore Canoe Federation: The Singapore Junior Canoe Sprint Championships, Inter-Tertiary Canoe Sprint Championships, and Singapore Kids Kayaking Championships have been put off until further notice. 

Singapore Dragon Boat Association: The Century Race event at PAssion Wave@Jurong Lake on 14 and 15 March will not be held until the Dorscon level comes down to Yellow.
