Niharika Jain, Partner, Chirmi Events shares a sneak peek into CHIRMI WEDDINGS archives. Read More.

Remember waking up to bright smiles and hues of pink pastel in the scenic setting of Tuscany as Virat and Anushka promised each other a lifetime of conditional love or the vibrant alfresco backdrop with a goal worthy wedding trousseau of Deepika and Ranveer, as they marked the beginning of a remarkable chapter – all this and so much more and so many more celeb weddings have been a fount of inspiration and ideas that we can forever take a leaf from.

Here is a sneak peek into CHIRMI WEDDINGS archives:

RUSTIC OUTDOOR SETTING

Virat and Anushka, wanted an intimate wedding ceremony and hence opted for a boutique property to conveniently accommodate their guest list of 44. The vibes were extremely homey with just their tribe but what really set it apart was the beautiful bountiful backdrop of nature. I personally have started falling in love with the recent trend of intimate wedding or weddings that happen at home. While there is a huge emotional factor attached to getting married where you have made plenty of memories – logistically speaking - one can easily plan a fairytale wedding in their own lawns with colorful flowers and verdant foliage serving as the ultimate backdrop. Just like the celeb couple, a makeshift - open air deconstructed mandap can be set up with wild flowers, ferns and colorful traditional drapes to signify growth and prosperity. As the sun sets, tea light candles in stained glass lanterns hanging on trees or traditional diyas with lavender aroma oil placed carefully, lends a warm and magical glow to the wedding proceedings. I highly recommend pictures be taken during the golden hour in the evening and a set up for the same can be made in the open lush green lawns with swings, flowers, fountain and lights under the heavenly blue canopy.

DEEP DIVE INTO TRADITION

When it came to DeepVeer’s wedding – it really was a celebration of a lifetime that had the perfect blend of cultures in an oversees setting. So if you are planning to get married in more than one way, fret not. I suggest you begin by making a list of the most important customs that are mandatory and make sure to keep a few fun ones as well. Discuss with your family the flow of the events and the duration of each so that the program can be chalked out better. One of my most recent wedding experiences here in Kolkata had a Punjabi bride and a Bengali groom. The bride wanted an equal representation of her side, so we added accents like phulkari dupattas for the bridesmaids, juttis for the groomsmen, Punjabi pakhis and a surprise dhol ceremony where in the friends and family did bhangra until wee hours in the morning. A fully decorated tractor was also installed in the garden and the guests posed with sunglasses on while relishing sweet lassi.

THEMED DREAMS

Sonam and Anand’s wedding was a perfect ode to how attention given to the tiniest details can make all the difference. I always make sure that I connect with my clients and we engage in some one on one conversations so that my team and I are able to curate a wedding ceremony as unique as they are. Soon after we work on creative line that has elements which have been conceptualized keeping in mind those one to one discussions. The inspiration can come in from anywhere – couple’s favourite city to go to or the city where they first met, the dish they first tried or their favourite show to binge watch. Couples are keen to experiment and are no longer restricting themselves to classic and vintage themes. We recently did a Marwari wedding ceremony that was inspired by royalty and rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan. From the menu that included authentic Rajasthani traditional delicacies, Rajasthani khaats and muddhas to the traditional dancers and folk singers - upon arrival - the couple and their guests were left absolutely thrilled.

CELEBRATE, REGARDLESS

Miheeka and Rana – did not let the ongoing unprecedented times bog down their enthusiasm, as they gave our sore eyes a much needed dose of glam and festivity. My team and I have definitely become very pro digital during this lockdown. We have been able to efficiently seek appointments with the families, book consultations with designers, decorators, printers, florists etc. A chunk of research was done online and right from booking vendors to coordinating dance sequences and bridal fittings – everything was done online. Hand embroidered masks, customised hand sanitizer bottles with fragrances ranging from floral to musk were being handed in the form of immunity kits with a note on basic dos and don’ts. The menu featured immunity boosting concoctions like kadha, turmeric latte and locally produced hand picked organic treats. We decided to get rid of the buffet system and instead served pre plated portions to guests who were seated in a socially distant manner. Cameras were installed at various angles so that the wedding could be telecasted live for friends and families across the globe. It is important to remember that no one can take this away from you, not even a pandemic.

REMEMBER! ITS YOUR WEDDING

There is no dictating our desi girl who is on the path of global domination and certainly not, on how to go about her wedding and pre wedding ceremonies. I was delighted to see Priyanka have fun and laugh her heart - like the happiest girl in the world. Couples have to enjoy their wedding only then their friends and family get involved and memories of a lifetime are made. So shop your heart out with your girlfriends online, eat right, sleep well, fix a beauty regime, plan your entry with with a song and dance sequence, practice poses, indulge in massages and above all take care and fall in love with yourself. A happy couple, deep in love - is the only thing a wedding truly needs.
