NORMAN – The Sooners made a fourth-quarter push Tuesday night against Oklahoma State, but came up short of the Cowgirls 66-53 in the first installment of Bedlam this season.

With the loss, OU moves to 1-4 on the season and 0-2 against the Big 12 while Oklahoma State improves to 4-2 and 1-0 in league play.

Down 20 points at the end of the third quarter, the Sooners put up a 14-0 run in the final period to close the gap to 10 with three minutes remaining.

"Three games in six days with six players is hard. I thought we showed the effects of that tonight," said OU head coach Sherri Coale.

"You could see the character of our team in the fourth quarter. A lesser bunch would have just packed it up and said 'we'll play another day.' The character of our guys wouldn't allow that. I loved our comeback. I loved our fight. That's the way we'd like to be able to play. You can't do that for 40 minutes when you've got six guys and three games in six days. You have to pick and choose and try to find ways to win. I loved our guts. I loved that comeback and I'm proud of our kids. They're ready for whatever the world wants to throw at them."

Taylor Robertson led the Sooners on the offensive end with 18 points with 15 in the second half. Robertson shot 7-for-13 from the field and 4-for-7 from beyond the arc, her best outing this season. Robertson also collected four rebounds and added two assists and a steal.

Gabby Gregory logged 14 points on the night. The sophomore shot 5-for-6 from the charity stripe and has now hit 17 of her last 18 free throw attempts.

Freshman Skylar Vann matched her career-high in points with 11 and set a new career best in rebounds with nine, which was also the game high. Tuesday's contest marked the freshman's fourth consecutive game with five or more rebounds.

Mandy Simpson made her return after missing OU's last two games and pulled down four rebounds while dishing two assists.

Nevaeh Tot, Gregory, Vann and Robertson played every minute, making the third straight game that both Robertson and Tot played all 40 minutes.
