While there is a ton to take in while watching Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, there is even more to learn in the official Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Visual Dictionary -- and a lot of information that answers some Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker plot holes.

From the names and ages of many characters and creatures to the reveal that Knights of the Old Republic's Darth Revan is canon to descriptions of each Knight of Ren, there are many secrets just waiting to be unlocked in its pages.

We've gathered many of the most important facts below, and we hope you have as much fun learning them as we did.


Lando's Full Name is Landonis Balthazar Calrissian and His 2-Year Old Daughter Was Kidnapped by the First Order

Landonis Balthazar Calrissian attempted to start a family following the fall of the Empire and him leading the attack on the second Death Star. However, his infant daughter was kidnapped by the First Order as they were working to build their numbers and strike back at the old Alliance leadership.

Six years after the tragedy, he would join Luke Skywalker as he searched for clues to a growing darkness he felt in the Force.

Jannah's Age Lines Up with Lando's Daughter

Jannah, who was once part of the First Order's Company 77 before her and her team's mutiny, is in her early 20s. This would line up with the age of Lando's kidnapped daughter, hinting there may be a deeper connection between the two heroes.

Jannah Uses Tinkered First Order Equipment and Is In Touch with Babu Frik

Following their mutiny at the Battle of Ansett Island, Jannah and Company 77 found home on Kef Bir and their equipment is made up of First Order gear and Imperial-era technology salvaged from the Death Star wreckage.

They also are still in touch with others in the galaxy, including Babu Frik who alerted them of the Millennium Falcon's approach.

The Horse-Like Creatures Ridden By Jannah and Company 77 are Called Orbaks

Orbaks are the horse-like creatures ridden by Jannah and Company 77 and are actually not native to Kef Bir. Orbaks are herbivores "Orbaks and riders are inextricably linked in a partnership of survival."

Emperor Palpatine's Sith Trooper Legions are Named After Ancient Sith Lords, Including Darth Revan

Emperor Palpatine's Sith Troopers are organized into legions of 5,000 soldiers and are given a name of an ancient Sith Lord. These names include Knights of the Old Republic's Darth Revan, who has now officially become canon.

The Ages of Luke, Leia, Rey, Kylo in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

During the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Luke and Leia are 53, Rey is 20, and Kylo Ren is 30.

Starkiller Base Is the Planet Ilum

Starkiller Base was built on the planet Ilum, which has a Kyber crystalline core. Kyber crystals hold immense power and are used for Lightsabers. Ilum is a revered Jedi world that used to test young Padawan, and was featured in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Kylo Ren Retrieved the Sith Wayfinder on Mustafar at the Ruins of Darth Vader's Castle

Kylo Ren found the way to Emperor Palpatine and Exegol by first finding the Sith Wayfinder on Mustafar, which was also the home to Darth Vader's castle. Though the castle is now in ruins, the Sith Wayfinder was still in one piece.

Rey Reassembled the Skywalker Lightsaber with Knowledge from the Jedi Texts

Rey used the Jedi texts to help fix the Skywalker Lightsaber. She learned much about the arcane healing techniques in the Chronicles of Brus-bu, and "uses the underpinnings of such teachings to heal the broken kyber crystal in her lightsaber."

Luke Trained Leia in the Ways of the Force on the Resistance Base's Planet, Ajan Kloss, 30 Years Before TRoS

Ajan Kloss was charted by Alderaanian scouts prior to the Galactic Civil War, but was hidden from the Imperial Senate and was short-listed as a potential home for the rebel base alongside Yavin IV and Dantooine. Per Leia Organa's request, it was used as an outpost following the Battle of Endor and was where Luke trained his sister in the ways of the Force.

Star Wars Rebels' The World Between Worlds Is Described in the Jedi Texts

The Jedi texts that Rey took from Ahch-to contain writings and visualizations of the Chain Worlds Theorem, also known as the World Between Worlds or Vergence Scatter. This World Between Worlds played a pivotal role in Star Wars Rebels.

The Alien that Fixes Kylo Ren's Helmet is a Symeong Named Albrekh

Albrekh is the Symeong who repaired Kylo Ren's helmet and made it even stronger with the "luminous webwork of Sith alchemy." A red alchemical lattice of Sarrassian iron holds the shards together.

The Names of the Knights of Ren Revealed

The Knights of Ren consist of six members, in addition to Kylo Ren, named Vicrul, Cardo, Ushar, Trudgen, Kuruk, and Ap'Lek. They traveled the galaxy on a ship called the Night Buzzard.

The Largest Ship in the Resistance Fleet is A New Hope's Tantive IV

The Tantive IV, which was an Aleraanian consular ship that took the Death Star plans away from Scarif following the Rebel Alliance's first victory over the Empire, is the largest ship in the Resistance's fleet. It is currently being piloted by the Sullustan Nien Nunb.

Chewbacca Lent the Falcon to Hondo Ohnaka After the Battle of Crait (Smuggler's Run at Galaxy's Edge)

Following the Battle of Crait, Chewbacca lent the Millennium Falcon to Hondo Ohnaka, a Weequay pirate and entreprenuer who was featured in both Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, for supplies for the Resistance. Furthermore, this storyline is what Smuggler's Run at Galaxy's Edge is based around.

Klaud's Species Revealed

Klaud, the alien who appeared on the Millennium Falcon near the beginning of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, is a Trodatome who is along for the ride to help our favorite heroes. He has a talent for working with mechanical systems and was originally planning on joining for a parts pickup on Sinta. Unfortunatley for Klaud, it turned out to be much more dangerous.

Poe Joined the Spice Runners at 16

Poe rebelled against his father Kes as a teenager and joined the Spice Runners at the age of 16. This road he took would lead him to his first encounter with Zorii Bliss.

Dominic Monaghan's Character Revealed

Dominic Monaghan played the historian Beaumont Kin in The Rise of Skywalker. He was on track to become one the youngest professors at the Lerct Historical Institute before the First Order destroyed the Hosnian system. He knew he had to then give up his career in academia to join the Resistance to not "allow future acts of apocalyptic destruction to occur unchallenged." He has great interest in the early Republic era following the vanquishment of the Sith.

The Resistance's Aftab Ackbar Is the Son of Admiral Gial Ackbar

Gial is the legendary Admiral Ackbar's son who is honoring his late father by fighting in the Resistance. Aftab urged his father to retire after a brief stint with the Resistance, but his father couldn't turn away from his responsibility, and neither will his son.

Rose Tico Is the Head of the Engineering Corps for the Resistance

Rose leads the Engineering Corps in the Resistance and works to counter any new advancements the First Order may come up with. She even developed a custom proton bomb for B- and Y-Wing fighters that is named after her late sister Page called "the Paiger."

The Small, Large-Eared Creatures on Pasaana are Called Oki-Poki

When Rey and her friends arrive on Pasaana, we are greeted by the adorable Oki-Poki. They are furred cliff dwellers who feed on thistlebuzzers, gorpions, and other insects.

The Snake-Like Creature Rey Heals is a Vexis

The snake-like creature that Rey heals beneath the sands of Pasaana is called a Vexis, an armored snake who creates a growing network of tunnels beneath the sandy planet.

Babu Frik Is an 85-Year Old Anzellan

The now internet sensation Babu Frik is an Anzellan who is 85 years old and works out of his shop in the Theives' Quarter of Kijimi City. Frik "bypasses well-intentioned safeguards to turn submissive droids into dangerous weapons, confident that his tiny size rarely registers as a threat to most combat automata."

The Planet Is Named Endor, the Ewok's Home is the Forest Moon

To clear up any confusion, Endor is in fact the name of the silver-banded gas giant that is the center of the nine lunar orbits that surround it. The Ewoks inhabit the Forest Moon surrounding Endor and actually call the planet Tana. The New Republic had planned to change the name to honor Ewokese culture, but it unfortunately did not get accomplished prior to the destruction of the New Republic Senate.

The Ocean Moon of Endor is called Kef Bir and is the crash site of the second Death Star.

Rey's White Hood Is an Homage to Princess Leia

The design of Rey's look for The Rise of Skywalker is a blend of "Jedi heritage, scavenger origins, and a touch of Alderaanian nobility to illustrate Leia's influence."

The Aki-Aki, Vexis, Klaud, and D-O Were All Practical Effects

While CG still plays a prominent role in The Rise of Skywalker, there are still parts of the film that were all done with practical effects. The Aki-Aki, Vexis, Klaud, and D-O were all created in the real world through puppetry and/or technology.
