AFTER ditching Extra Camp, I’m A Celebrity has revamped its spin-off show with a brand new format and host.
TV and radio presenter Vick Hope, who was on Strictly with Graziano Di Prima in 2018, has been signed up to front I’m A Celebrity . . . The Daily Drop, a 30-minute show that will be on ITV2 and the ITV Hub the morning after each episode of the main one.
Hosted from a virtual studio, it will include a panel of celebrities commenting on the previous night’s events.
It comes after previous spin-off show Extra Camp was axed in 2019 after 17 years on screen.
It was last presented by former contestants Emily Atack, Joel Dommett and Adam Thomas.
A TV insider said: “Even though they have already got a lot to contend with getting the main show ready, bosses wanted some kind of companion for I’m A Celeb. But they wanted one with a new twist.
“And part of that is signing up Vick, who is seen as a star still in the ascent and a breath of fresh air.”
The new show comes after Covid forced producers to shift the main series from its usual location in the Aussie jungle to Gwrych Castle, Conwy, in North Wales.
It really is all change this year.
Jon and co's shock start
THERE were shocking scenes at the start of Comedy Central’s new series, Channel Hopping.
The show is a weekly digest of the world’s craziest TV and presented by comic Jon Richardson.
It also features special guests dropping in to discuss everything from soap operas to x-rated talent shows.
But Jon, and show regular Judi Love, don’t just talk about TV with guests. The stars also “sacrifice” themselves to experience what they see.
On the first episode, tonight at 9pm, Jon shows a clip from the US where couples are surprised by being contestants on a gameshow in the middle of their labour ward.
Guest Ivo Graham finds himself having electric shocks – to emulate the pain of childbirth.
I can’t wait to see it.
Piers piles pressure on Ranvir
GOOD Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan offered co-host Ranvir Singh some advice about going on Strictly – and a stark warning.
She said: “He’s already started. He told me that I’m representing Good Morning Britain and that if I fail, they fail.
“When he saw the pictures from the launch, he told me I have to show more flesh.”
Ranvir is not sure she can rely on the advice of GMB co-hosts Susanna Reid, Kate Garraway and Richard Arnold.
They all took part in Strictly, but several years ago.
She told Radio Times: “I think it’s a bit like childbirth in that everyone forgets how painful it is.”
The 2020 series got under way on Saturday, with the 12 celebrities being officially paired with their pro dancers during launch night.
Ranvir will be partnered by Giovanni Pernice.
Piers is right. For men and women, flashing the flesh does seem to help.
l Love Island favourite Ovie Soko thinks his time on the show was written in the stars, after finding a note in his journal about “reaching a lot of people” he’d written six months before entering the villa.
He said: “Those are the exact words I wrote down. It’s crazy that I wrote this down a year and a half ago.”
Caitlyn's lemon fool
KEITH Lemon fooled Caitlyn Jenner into thinking fish and chips with a Yorkshire pudding on the side was a British delicacy.
The Celebrity Juice and Through the Keyhole presenter got the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star to give it a try while filming the latest series of his hit ITV2 show, Shopping With Keith Lemon.
He said: “We did Caitlyn Jenner before lockdown happened, so that was actually a shock because most of this series of shopping is not actually shopping.
“We’re just doing different activities that the guests wanted to do. But Caitlyn was in Marks & Spencer, and then we went to the pub for fish and chips and a Yorkshire pudding, which I told her was a delicacy here.
“We have a Yorkshire pudding on the side of our fish and chips, don’t we?”
Caitlyn, who enjoyed her fair share of odd grub in the Bushtucker trials during her stint on I’m A Celeb last year, wasn’t fazed by Keith’s culinary recommendation.
On ITV’s Lorraine yesterday, he added: “She liked it though. She was lovely. But we got quite deep. We talked about deep things and I just had to listen.”
The second series, which starts on Sunday, will see TV host Jonathan Ross show off his toy collection, and Keith treats Gemma Collins to afternoon tea on the Thames.
Keith also returns to ITV2 this month with Celebrity Juice – now in its 13th year – and with new team captains, Emily Atack and Laura Whitmore.
Caitlyn’s bizarre experience shows just what they can expect.
STEPH McGovern turned down Strictly so she could focus on Steph’s Packed Lunch.
The host of the C4 chat show said: “I have actually been asked a couple of times. I got asked again this year but obviously I had a show to launch.”
When asked if she’d do it by comic Luke Kempner, she said: “Maybe, I don’t know.”
Michaela: We have to watch tone
AUTUMNWATCH host Michaela Strachan reckons the job is harder than ever now by having to find the right tone.
She said: “We have to make people realise it’s not all rosy in the back garden.
"There’s a lot of stuff that is negative in wildlife and conservation.
“We have a very difficult line because there’s so much negativity around.
"The last thing we want to do is add to the Covid problems, recession problems, Brexit problems.”
