Nicki Minaj set the internet on fire when she announced her pregnancy in July with stunning maternity photos, and she and hubby Kenneth Petty welcomed their baby in September.
Minaj (whose real name is Onika Maraj) is one of many celebrities who gave birth during the pandemic and she’s over the moon about her new bundle of joy. Initially, no one knew about the baby’s name or gender, but Minaj just provided a little clue.
Nicki Minaj baby news came in October
On Oct. 1, TMZ was the first to report that Nicki Minaj delivered her child the day before on September 30 in Los Angeles. At the time, many fans flooded her with congratulations messages and wondered if she had a boy or girl. Celebrities also took to social media to send their love and welcome her to motherhood.
During those weeks following the baby’s birth, Minaj stayed rather quiet online but that changed today. The rapper hit both Twitter and Instagram to promote a new single with Sada Baby and to shout out some of her famous friends. With that came a major big reveal. It’s a boy!

In the caption, she revealed that she had a boy and wrote that he’s “My favorite liddo boy in the whole wide world.”

Minaj loves married life, is still dropping new music
Though she’s in the middle of celebrating her little boy and her first wedding anniversary, Minaj is still working.
This year, she’s appeared on more than six new singles with more music on the way. The “Megatron” artist previously surprised fans when she alluded to an early retirement after marrying Petty last year.
She tweeted then deleted: “I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, in the box- cuz ain’t nobody checkin me. Love you for LIFE.” Minaj later apologized and clarified that she didn’t mean it.
In June, she opened up about married life on Lil Wayne’s Young Money Radio podcast. “I didn’t think it would be as refreshing and calming as it is,” Minaj said. “Even if you’re not married, when you have somebody who feels like your soulmate or someone who understands you, you feel on top of the world.”
Musically, Minaj is a featured artist on tracks with Major Lazer, Doja Cat, Ty Dolla $ign, Sada, Tekashi 6ix9ine, Karol G, and A$AP Ferg. As the Barbz await the first batch of baby photos—which could possibly be as glamorous as her maternity shoot—they can stream her hits.
