I’m A Celeb’s Amy Willerton claims celebs are pretending to be at home during lockdown when they’re actually i - The Sun

FORMER I’m A Celeb star Amy Willerton has slammed influencers who she claims are pretending to have remained in the UK during the third national lockdown – when they’re actually in Dubai.

Model Amy – who moved to Dubai permanently last year – spoke candidly about the influx of celebs travelling to the United Arab Emirates during the pandemic in a new Instagram video.

The 28-year-old was asked about the scandal in an Instagram Q&A, and admitted she was mostly irritated by social media celebs painting a false picture.

She began: “OK, I have a lot to say about this... some of it which I probably shouldn't say.

"But I'm a big believer in owning your truth, so I’m gonna talk. I'm here in Dubai, I see a lot of people, who are on social media, pretending they're at home.

“They put up the Netflix, they say ‘I’m at home’, you know, ‘I’m in it with you’ and they’re not – they’re here.

“Remember, smoke and mirrors OK? Social media is not real. It’s a glimpse. It’s not that person’s life.”

Plenty of celebs have weighed in on the debate about holidays and ‘work’ trips to Dubai during lockdown travel restrictions.

Most recently, Love Island star Olivia Attwood urged fans to unfollow stars who were sunning it up in the Middle Eastern hot spot.

But Amy confessed she felt sorry for social media stars who had chosen to be honest about their whereabouts.

“So, I guess I do feel sorry in some ways for the influencers that came over here and actually just owned the fact they were here and are receiving death threats for it,” she shared.

“I think that’s really quite sad when there’s a lot of people who are getting praise when they’re completely lying to you all.

“I’m not naming any names, I’m not like that, but I’m just saying, it’s not real.

“Because people have suffered, like, so much in this, I get why they’re angry, why people are so so upset.”

The former Miss Great Britain moved to Dubai sometime after the first national lockdown – setting up a new life with fiancé Daniel Day and their now one-year-old daughter Demelza.

And it seemed that the mum-of-one was relieved to be living in the Middle East, as the UK continues to endure strict national lockdown rules – for the third time since March 2020.

“The only comfort everybody has found in all of this is the community that’s formed from the suffering, from getting through each day in lockdown,” she added.

“We went through it in the first lockdown, and we’re so lucky that we’re not going through it right now.

“For now, I’m gonna own the fact I’m here, I’m gonna own the fact that I’m extremely lucky and I’m gonna try and enjoy each day.”

And alongside her revelation that some popular celebs are telling fibs on their profiles, Amy revealed that she no longer considers herself a celebrity.

Though she could perhaps be considered an influencer, with 339,000 Instagram followers of her own.

She wrote in a separate Insta Story post: “I consider myself someone who experienced fame for a while and didn’t enjoy it. Now I’m just living my best life..."
