MARSHALL — The Marshall amateur baseball team fell to Sacred Heart 4-2 on Sunday.

Doug Mead and Ryan Schwagel led Marshall with two hits each while Mason Penske and Zach Olson each had a hit and an RBI and Matt Hmielewski and Peyton Grant each had a hit.

Olson took the loss on the mound, going eight innings while allowing four runs on five hits and struck out one.

Marshall (10-14) will face Wabasso at home on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

Raymond 13, Milroy Yankees 3 (7 innings)

MILROY — The Milroy Yankees earned a doubleheader split against Raymond on Sunday, falling 13-3 in Game 1 in seven innings before taking Game 2 13-12.

The completion of the first game was scheduled for Sunday after the original contest on May 21 between the Yankees and Rockets was stopped when the lights went out in the sixth inning. Stats for Game 1 were not available at press time.

In the second game, Derek Rasmussen led the Yankees with two hits, including a home run, and three RBI while Jacob Hughes added two hits and three RBI, Matt Bauer had two hits and two RBI and Branden Flock had a hit and two RBI.

Austin Deutz earned the victory on the mound, going 8 1/3 innings while allowing eight runs on 11 hits and struck out two.

The Yankees (14-5) will face Bird Island at home on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Junior Legion baseball

Alexandria tournament

ALEXANDRIA — The Marshall Junior Legion baseball team went 2-1 over the weekend to finish the Alexandria tournament, defeating Elk River 8-1 and falling to Aitkin 12-10 on Saturday and defeating Alexandria Red 7-3 on Sunday.

Against Elk River, Tyler Maeyaert and Andrew Wallen led Marshall with two hits and three RBI each while Zach Leibfried and Coby Brownlee each had a hit and an RBI and Lincoln Graven, Talan Plante and Parker Schmitt each had a hit.

Wallen earned the victory on the mound, going seven innings while allowing one run on seven hits and struck out four.

Against Aitkin, Ezra Maurice led Marshall with two hits and two RBI while Maeyaert and Plante each had a hit and two RBI, Schmitt had a hit and an RBI, Brownlee had a hit and Wallen and Ashton Rowe each had an RBI.

Plante took the loss on the mound, going 5 1/3 innings while allowing nine runs on seven hits and struck out two.

Against Alexandria Red, Wallen led Marshall with three hits and an RBI while Maurice had two hits and an RBI, Brownlee had a hit and three RBI, Graven had a hit and two RBI and Leibfried, Maeyaert, Schmitt and Gavin Peterson each had a hit.

Schmitt earned the victory on the mound, going six innings while allowing three runs on four hits and struck out seven.

Marshall Black (18-4-2) will face Worthington at home on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Brookings (S.D.) tournament

BROOKINGS, S.D. — The Marshall 15U Orange baseball team dropped a trio of games at the Brookings (S.D.) tournament over the weekend, falling to West Central 4-0 on Saturday and 8-4 to Harrisburg (S.D.) and 1-0 to Mitchell (S.D.) on Sunday.

Stats against West Central were not available at press time.

Against Harrisburg, AJ Haas and Ashton Blomberg led Marshall with two hits each while Colin Klenken had a hit and an RBI and Andrew Cowden had a hit.

Drew Parsons took the loss on the mound, going 5 2/3 innings while allowing eight runs on 11 hits and struck out eight.

Against Mitchell, Luke Novotny led Marshall with two hits while Blomberg, Preston Grosklogs, Brayden Ust and Brayden Louwagie each had a hit.

Blomberg took the loss on the mound, going seven innings while allowing one run on seven hits and struck out 10.

Marshall 15U Orange (6-10-1) will face Pipestone Area in a doubleheader at home on Thursday at 5 p.m.
