For the Huskers, Emily Cheramie and Madelynn Erickson led the Huskers with top-five finishes in both events.
"Cheramie and Erickson put forth noteworthy scores," said NU rifle coach Rachel Martin. "However our performance as a team lacked the discipline and execution required for consistent scores, and we paid for it with a loss against our opponent. It will be an intense week of practice for our athletes, and I expect our team to be prepared as we compete against Air Force this coming weekend."
The Huskers took three of the top five spots in the Smallbore, as both teams posted identical scores of 2,314 in the event. Cheramie earned a runner-up finish with a score of 584, while freshmen Cecelia Ossi (580) and Erickson (579) placed fourth and fifth, respectively. Elena Flake (571) rounded out the team score.
In the Air Rifle, Cheramie posted her second runner-up finish of the day with a score of 593, while Erickson placed fifth with a score of 592. Elena Flake (589) and Ossi (577) rounded out the lineup, as Ole Miss posted a 2,363-2,353 win in the event.
The Huskers will return to action next weekend with a pair of matches against Air Force, including Saturday's home opener at 8 a.m.
