It’s Monday and we’re back. The links keep pressing on, so check out the latest Mountain West and college sports-related news from around the web, plus the original content we have coming your way this week.

Colorado State couldn’t get the job done against Memphis, but then again, neither could anyone else in the NIT. They took on Louisiana Tech in the 3rd place game and came away with nothing in that contest. It was a tight game nearly from start to finish and the Rams lost a heart-breaker to come away with fourth place in the NIT. It was a strong season but finishing with two straight losses will leave a bit of a sour taste.

Kruger is a former UNLV player and will now be living his dream job of being the head coach. Those close to him say he is more than ready, preparing for this for years. He was part of the Sweet 16 team in the early 2000s and can bring back the winning culture that has eluded them of late.

It’s a familiar narrative, but one that all involved hope will finally stick. Sean Chambers has had three season-ending injuries in three years but is fully cleared for spring practices. This bodes well for him, as there is a new offense to learn. Last year it appeared we would see a two-quarterback system, will that transpire next fall?

Craig Smith moves from Utah State to Utah.

Rebels are volleyball champs
