Short made a guest appearance as the second gentleman of the United States to help Rudolph's Harris host Passover Seder.

Maya Rudolph's Kamala Harris made a return to Saturday Night Live for the March 27 episode, accompanied by Martin Short as the second gentleman of the United States, Doug Emhoff.

Rudolph's Harris addressed the nation for "A Kamala Harris Unity Seder," expressing how "this has been a difficult year for all of us, but I really do feel that we are about to see some light. What better night to celebrate a new beginning than Passover — or, as my adopted people call it, Pesach." She added that topics of discussion for the event would include "How’s school? Did you eat? When are you giving me grandchildren? And, what’s with that haircut?"

Martin Short's Emhoff appeared at Rudolph's side to exchange some romantic words and embraces. But the couple didn't have much time alone before guests for the Unity Seder arrived.

The first guest of the night was Aidy Bryant's Ted Cruz, who apparently was invited because Harris was encouraged by the president to "reach across the aisle," which to her meant beginning "at the bottom." Bryant's Cruz admitted "I’ve never been to a Jewish dinner so I brought some Israeli flag cupcakes... And I’ve got some pigs in a blanket." Rudolph-as-Harris reminded Cruz that they couldn't eat pork or bread.

Kenan Thompson arrived as Rev. Sen. Raphael Warnock and was asked by Rudolph's Harris how things were going in Georgia. Republicans in the state passed restrictive changes to the state election process on Thursday. Restrictions include requiring identification for mail voting and making it illegal to pass out food or water to voters in line. Thompson's Warnock replied to the question, "You saw Roots right? That’s how it’s going in Georgia."

Alex Moffat reprised his role as President Joe Biden, stopping by to tell Rudolph's Harris that she'd now be overseeing and solving "the little immigration problem down at the Mexican border." Rudolph's Harris thanked the president for "such a fun, solvable problem" and then asked what he was in charge of.

"Giving out stimmies!" Moffat's Biden exclaimed of the recently doled out coronavirus stimulus checks.

A German Shepherd playing Biden's pet Major accompanied Moffat's presidential persona, who quickly lunged at Short's Emhoff — turning into an all-out battle on the carpet as the other Unity Seder guests chatted. As Short's Emhoff finally shrugged off the stuffed animal version of Major, he asked what could have spooked the "hell hound."

Apparently, it was Cecily Strong playing Sen. Marjorie Taylor Green, who ended up climbing through a window to get inside. "Ever since Jan. 6, I've only been entering dwellings insurrection-style," she quipped.

To finish off the event, Chloe Fineman appeared as Ella Emhoff, striking a few fashionable poses and noting she is "the most normal looking girl in Bushwick."

Rudolph's Harris wondered by the end of the sketch if her "unity" event had been ruined by all the chaos, but a loving hug by her husband helped make up for it. Short's Emhoff began to quote Dayenu, a traditional Passover song that means "it would have been enough."

"It would have been enough. And if you’re just Vice President–" he began to say, before Rudolph's Harris cut him off. "Oh no, that won't be enough," she said firmly.
