Wonderwall.com is taking a look back at the stars who found love, suffered heartbreak or experienced some other major event in their love lives in late May 2021, starting with this unexpected duo… On May 24, Deux Moi reported that, according to an anonymous source, Kanye West is now "secretly dating" Bradley Cooper's former long-term partner, model Irina Shayk. Later that day, a second source claimed that the rapper and the Russian beauty are "definitely dating." (Although the report seems dubious, Deux Moi has an impressive track record for breaking this kind of news.) Kanye and Irina actually go way back: She appeared in the 2010 music video for his hit "Power" and he rapped about her in his 2010 demo "Christian Dior Denim Flow." Two years later, she walked the runway during his ready-to-wear collection presentation as part of Paris Fashion Week. She's also been seen wearing items from his Balenciaga collab. It's clear they run in the same circles, so perhaps a secret romance isn't so far-fetched!

On May 26, Kim Kardashian took to her Instagram Story to shoot down rumors she and Travis Barker had an affair before he started dating her sister, Kourtney Kardashian: "NO! False narrative! We've been friends for years and I'm so happy for him and Kourt," she wrote after a fan asked during a Q&A, "Did you hook up with Travis Barker?" Earlier in the week, the blink-182 drummer made an incredibly bold statement about his new girlfriend on Instagram: On May 20, he shared a slideshow of photos with Kourtney (and his three kids!) at Disneyland. "Happiest Place On Earth," he wrote in the caption. Commented Kourtney, "Happiest." Replied the rocker, "With the love of my life." Aww!

On May 25, Drake's longtime hair and makeup artist, Luisa Duran, sparked questions about the nature of their relationship when she took to Instagram to share a cozy-looking mirror selfie with the chart-topper. Though the brunette beauty made it clear in the caption that they're just friends, their super-flirty body language raised eyebrows nonetheless: "Congratulations on [being named] artist of the decade. It's been so amazing working with you these last 10 years. You are truly like a brother to me," she wrote, referencing Drake's big night at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards, during when he was honored as Billboard's Artist of the Decade.

On HBO Max's "Friends" reunion special, which debuted on May 27, Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer revealed they once had feelings for each other. "The first season, I had a major crush on Jen," said the erstwhile Ross Geller. "It was reciprocated," chimed in his on-screen love. David went on to explain why they never dated in real life: "I think at some point we were both crushing hard on each other, but it was like two ships passing because one of us was always in a relationship, and we never crossed that boundary. We respected that," he said. Jen then noted they hoped to take their relationship to the next level before their on-screen alter egos got together: "I remember saying one time to David, 'It's gonna be such a bummer if the first time you and I actually kiss is going to be on national television.' Sure enough, the first time we kissed was in that coffee shop. We just channeled all of our adoration and love for each other into Ross and Rachel," she recalled. David then revealed that he and Jen used to "cuddle on the couch" during breaks on set. "We would spoon and fall asleep," she confirmed. Concluded David on the subject, "It was a situation that we couldn't do anything about it."
On May 23, Malik Beasley took to Instagram to apologize to his estranged wife, Montana Yao, for abandoning their marriage to date Larsa Pippen. "I wana say sorry for putting you in the situation you were put in the last few months," he captioned a photo of himself, the model and their son, Makai. "My head wasn't where it was supposed to be. I was looking for more when it was right here that whole time. I'm telling the world and you that there's nobody like you for me." He then alleged that he ended things with Larsa to reconcile with Montana, contradicting April reports that the 46-year-old mother of four dumped him over the ongoing drama with his estranged missus. He went on to accuse Larsa of alerting the paparazzi to their late-2020 Miami mall date, which he described as "childish," and implored Montana to forgive him "for hurting my family the way I did." Wrote the professional basketball player, "I'm trying to grow individually and grow a family … a real family. … At the end of the day, I'm a lover boy and I miss holding y'all and loving y'all." He concluded by professing his love to Montana and their son, adding "my family over [every]thing." (After Montana filed for divorce in late 2020, Malik sought a paternity test to prove he's Makai's real father.) When Larsa — who claimed earlier this year that Malik and Montana "weren't together" when she met him and that their breakup had nothing to do with her — caught wind of Malik's comments, she took to her Instagram Story to share her thoughts in the form of a single clown emoji. "[Larsa] is glad she dodged a bullet," said a Radar source, adding that the Instagram Story post expressed "her real thoughts" on Malik: that he's a clown. Montana, meanwhile, took to her Instagram Story on May 24 to accept Malik's apology. "It's hard to own up to bad decisions and apologize especially publicly so it is really appreciated," she wrote, adding that her main priority is her son and that she's "glad if/when he looks back on all of this one day, he can see his dad publicly apologized to us for publicly hurting us." Continued Montana, "This is a step forward in healing for me and also having Malik be a part of Makai's life. … At the end of the day, we are both Makai's parents, so I am praying for his sake we can all move forward away from the anger and hurt to be able to raise him with love, respect, and happiness on both sides." On May 25, she clarified that she hasn't taken back Malik yet but is simply focused on building "a successful co-parenting situation" with him. She had much less optimistic things to say about Larsa…

Montana Yao — who bears a striking resemblance to Larsa Pippen — took aim at the 46-year-old former reality star on her Instagram Story on May 24. "You embarrassed yourself enough already. Both of you were wrong as hell, but YOU, ma'am, had the nerve to talk all that s*** to me as if I was wrong? … You wouldn't know girl code if it slapped you in the face," Malik Beasley's estranged missus wrote in a lengthy rant that at one point compared Larsa to an "old desperate thirsty" blow-up doll and at other points accused her of embarrassing and neglecting her four children and of getting bad plastic surgery. "You call paparazzi every single day [on] every single man. [It's] sad and lame. You need clout that bad at your age? [I won't be] walking around behaving like that in 23 years," continued the model, who's more than two decades Larsa's junior. "You ran to the media because you needed everyone to think you ended [things] with Malik cause you're too embarrassed that you just keep getting passed around like a hot potato. C'mon now, let's stop putting lies out there." She concluded by accusing Larsa of trying to "trap Malik" by getting him "to go to fertility clinics" with her. Larsa then took to her own Instagram Story to share what she dubbed "the truth about Malik." Wrote the former "The Real Housewives of Miami" star, "1. When I thought about him and how he treated your child, [I realized] he's not the type of man I want around mine. Any man who would deny his child and then leave the mother penniless is not a real man. 2. He cried entirely too much. 3. He's cheap, but then again, you never saw any alimony, so you already know that." Continued Larsa, "If you ever find another man who wants you for you and not all the free press I'm giving both of you, lock him down. Malik was a clout chaser who pursued me relentlessly before I even knew you existed. And I have the DMs [to prove it], but then again, he knows that." She signed off by pointing out that unlike Montana and Malik's son, Makai, none of her children will ever "have to read how their father didn't claim them." She advised Montana, "You should be worried about the narrative you two need to create to distract [your son] from dealing with that reality." Ouch! But that wasn't the end of it…
Montana Yao returned to her Instagram Story to question Larsa Pippen's allegations about her relationship with Malik Beasley, pointing out a few holes in the reality star's story: Larsa previously said she was under the impression Malik and Montana were separated when she started seeing the professional basketball player, but she later claimed she didn't know Montana existed at all. "Get your story straight, luv. I was all over that man's [Instagram] page. A simple Google search or DM would have sufficed," Montana wrote. She then doubled down on her previous allegations that Larsa "tried to get pregnant" with Malik and "actively tried to set up fertility appointments and wanted to get married." She also accused Larsa of being "the clout chaser in this scenario," pointing to the fact that Larsa still uses estranged husband Scottie Pippen's last name while she never took Malik's last name. She then doubled down on her previous claims that Larsa "called the paparazzi and sent all those pics [with Malik] to the blogs."
On May 21, TMZ reported that, according to multiple sources, Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott are in an open relationship: They're back together but aren't exclusive and have both signed off on the arrangement. The webloid reports that the rapper "has been enjoying the bachelor lifestyle and all that comes with it" since he and the makeup mogul split in late 2019, "but he also wanted to get back with Kylie and be a strong family unit" with their daughter, Stormi. After the TMZ report hit the Internet, Kylie took to Twitter to shoot it down: "I'm not discrediting anyone who is in an open relationship but it's just careless and disrespectful to throw this narrative out there without knowing what's true," she tweeted. After Mail Online published a similar report, the reality star shared a screenshot on Twitter, adding, "You guys really just make up anything." She did not, however, deny that she and Travis are an item again.
On May 23, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were photographed leaving a private residence in Florida — the third state where they've been seen together this month. (See photos here.) The following day, the pair visited a Miami gym where, according to an "Entertainment Tonight" spy, they worked out with separate trainers but "shared a kiss in between sets." Said the spy, "[They] were not trying to hide their relationship by any means. They stayed close to each other while working out and were hugging [and] being playful together. … It was clear to everyone that they have intense chemistry and were having fun together. … [They] looked like two people who are super comfortable and familiar with each other, who are also in the honeymoon phase and in love. … They were having a good time. Jennifer works out every day and it's part of her routine and it seemed like Ben really wanted to be there too with her." A Page Six spy, meanwhile, added that they were "affectionate" during their gym visit and looked "very much in love." Earlier in the week, a second "Entertainment Tonight" source said of the rekindled couple, "Jen is loving the attention she has been getting from Ben. [They] didn't get along at the end of their relationship years ago. But once their hurt feelings subsided, they were friendly for many years. Now that they've fully reconnected, they are having fun together and care about each other a great deal."
Meanwhile, according to an Us Weekly source, Alex Rodriguez is "still very sore and in a world of pain" over his recent breakup from Jennifer Lopez and her speedy rebound with Ben Affleck. "It's the first time anyone can remember him being dumped like this, at least publicly," said the source, adding that "while he and J.Lo have tried to sugar coat it, there's zero doubt it's really hurt his ego." Continued the insider, "Seeing her running straight back to Ben's arms is a real kick in the teeth. There's a part of him that still clings onto the hope that they'll wind up together again but deep down he's had to accept the harsh truth that she's over him and moving on with Ben. It's a tough pill to swallow but that's his new reality."
Maybe they didn't break up after all? On May 26, Us Weekly reported that, according to a spy, Minka Kelly and Trevor Noah had lunch together at Gyp Sea restaurant in St. Barts earlier in the month — around the time multiple media outlets reported their relationship of less than a year had come to an end. It's also possible, of course, that they're simply working on maintaining a friendship in the wake of their recent split.
On May 24, E! News reported that, according to a source, back-on "The Bachelor" couple Matt James and Rachael Kirkconnell "are in a really good place right now and are getting serious." Said the source, "They are inseparable and talk all day, every day." The duo have reportedly been "making many plans to see each other so not a huge chunk of time passes before their next visit." Although "they are both taking it slow," they've also "discussed Rachael moving to New York City to be closer to Matt" and "talked about moving in together." Said the insider, "It is an option they are considering but waiting to see how the next couple of months progress. … Matt is truly in love with her. They have a special bond and have really turned [over a new] a leaf in their relationship." Matt opened up about his relationship with Rachael on the May 25 episode of the "Pomp" podcast, "[Our] relationship was a little different because a lot of things [in the world] were different," he said, noting that they weathered some "rough patches" and "actually broke up for a moment," though they're "back together" now. He then detailed how they reconciled: "She was like, 'If you're going to make this work, let's do it. But if you're not going to make it work, I'm going to let you do your own thing.' That's really all I needed. It was an ultimatum that I needed. It's been great [since then]," he said. "It was honestly a commitment that we made to each other that we were going to work on the relationship. [Before that, there was] a point in time where it was evident that my working on the relationship looked different than Rachael's because I wasn't really honoring that commitment that I made to working on the relationship." He later noted that he "had an idea pretty early" on that he'd choose Rachael at the end of his time on the ABC reality show. "The best thing about Rachael is her heart. She's the most kind, caring, understanding person I've ever met," he gushed. "Everything we've been through, everything she's been through, she's stuck right by my side. She's continued to have a positive attitude. It's one of the many things I love about her."
In other Bachelor Nation news… On the May 20 episode of the "Chicks in the Office" podcast, Kelley Flanagan shed some more light on her late-2020 breakup from former "The Bachelor" star Peter Weber. The trouble started when she realized they don't share the same interests, she said, explaining, "He loves Pokémon cards and he loves playing video games and he loves going out and partying. There was a while where I was trying to convince myself that that's what I liked, and I was like, 'All right, Kelley, let's be honest with yourself. Does that add up for you?'" After they made the decision to part ways, Kelley asked Peter to wait a few days before publicly sharing the news, but he "had to do it in 2020," she said, adding that, following a brief reconciliation, they ultimately threw in the towel "on very bad terms." Recalled the lawyer, "It ended really badly. I essentially went off on him. I ended up leaving New York and going to one of my girlfriend's houses and hanging out with her. He texted me. I didn't respond. And then [I] found some news out that I wasn't happy about. We still had each other on Find My Friends. We were closing [the relationship] out — it was ending but still wasn't necessarily done." She then told him to "get the hell out of my life" and to "lose my number." Continued Kelley, who stopped short of alleging she caught Peter spending time with another woman, "He messaged me the other day and I'm just not responsive. There's a lot of things that you hear. This world is very small. I even get stopped by girls in Nashville and they're like, 'My friend hooked up with Peter last week!'" A few days later, on the May 25 episode of his "Bachelors in the City" podcast, Peter called Kelley's allegations "very calculated" and "very disingenuous." He also accused her of "trying to push for a headline" to "get people talking" about her. "That's too bad. I didn't necessarily expect that from Kelley — it kind of caught me off guard," he said, adding that their relationship "was not perfect" but that he's "so grateful" for their time together and still cares about her "very deeply." Continued the pilot, "The breakup was obviously very hard on the both of us. … Truly, Kelley was the best relationship that I have ever had in my life, and [I] could not be more grateful for the 10 months we had together." He then noted that he's "more than 100% moved on" from the relationship and echoed Kelley's statement that they split because they're "different in a lot of ways." He concluded by saying he "can't wait to find [his] person" and hopes Kelley will also meet her match. "Closure's such a great thing — I can't force Kelley to get closure," he said. "I want her to be happy. Be happy, let this go, let it be."
Back in April, Julianna Margulies admitted that she and George Clooney had "a crush on each other" while portraying a complicated married couple on "ER" in the late '90s. On the May 24 episode of Dax Shepard's "Armchair Expert" podcast, she added that a romance between herself and her comely co-star likely "would have worked" until she "became an adult" and "would have wanted him to show up." Ultimately, she's glad they never took their relationship to the next level: "He and I always joke that thank God nothing ever happened because now we can remain friends for the rest of our lives," she said, adding that it's "agony" when co-stars date and then "hate each other" and are "stuck on a show for seven years together." Continued the Emmy winner, "Life's too short. … You just want to have the crush keep going and going. And that's what worked. And also, [George is] just a super-awesome human being, and I love him."
In early April, Us Weekly reported that, according to a source, Luann de Lesseps was "completely smitten" with a man she met while vacationing in Tulum, Mexico, earlier this year. She was finally seen with her mystery man in New York City on May 20. Then over the weekend of May 22, they were snapped packing on the PDA in the Hamptons. (See photos here.) According to a Page Six source, he's the same man she met in Mexico. They're reportedly "having a great time" together, though she still "considers herself single and dating." On May 25, Page Six identified her new beau as Mexico City native Radamez Rubio Gaytan, a chef and former soccer player who once tried out for the Miami Dolphins. "I think she fell madly in love with this one. He flew in from Mexico and he's been taking her everywhere. … She's so happy," said a second Page Six source.
On May 23 — the same day she made headlines for looking overly cozy with new couple Rita Ora and Taika Waititi during what appeared to be a boozy get together at the actor-director's home in Sydney (see photos here) — Tessa Thompson was also snapped sharing a passionate kiss with male model Zac Stenmark. (See a photo here.) The makeout session seemed to dispel rumors that the actress is in a "throuple" with her "Thor: Love and Thunder" director and his new love.
Halsey and boyfriend Alev Aydin — who are currently expecting their first child together — sparked rumors they'd gotten engaged or secretly tied the knot when they stepped out in Los Angeles on May 24 sporting bling on their ring fingers: a gold band for him and a jeweled sparkler for her. (See photos here.) The screenwriter-producer further fueled the "secret wedding" rumors when he took to Instagram to share a photo of himself sitting beside a formal banquet table — what appears to be the setup for a wedding reception. On May 25, Deux Moi's sources were divided over whether or not the couple secretly wed: One source claimed they exchanged vows "last year," while other sources said the pair are "100% not married" and that the first alleged insider was "100% wrong about a wedding."
Alexandra Daddario took to Instagram on May 24 to reveal she's dating film producer Andrew Form — Jordana Brewster's ex-husband. "I love you … 'and even that is an understatement,'" she captioned a photo of herself kissing the father of two.
On May 22, "Mr. Robot" star Grace Gummer sparked rumors that she and her boyfriend, Mark Ronson, are engaged when she sported a massive diamond sparkler during a PDA-packed outing with the music producer in London. (See photos here.) Early last year, Meryl Streep's actress daughter filed to divorce her first husband, Tay Strathairn, after just 42 days of marriage. Mark, meanwhile, was previously married to French actress Joséphine de La Baume from 2011 to 2018.
On May 25, James Woods' long-term girlfriend, Sara Miler, sparked rumors they're engaged when she donned a sizable sparkler during a lunch outing in West Hollywood with the Oscar nominee, who's more than four decades her senior. (See photos here.) The actor, who's been married twice before, first sparked engagement rumors in mid-April when he took to Instagram to share a photo of Sara rocking the same ring. "Life is a blessing," he wrote in the caption. Sara seemingly confirmed the engagement news on her Instagram Story in late May when she posted that she "won't be getting married on a deck over water." She also added an engagement-ring emoji to her bio on the social media platform.
On the May 21 episode of "The Wendy Williams Show," Lamar Odom addressed rumors he and "Saints & Sinners" actress Karlie Redd are an item: "We're friends. We're really good friends [and] getting to know each other," he said. When the talk show host followed up by asking if they "sleep together," he responded after a lengthy hesitation, "As friends." He also described himself as "happily single." Three days later, on the May 24 episode of Andy Cohen's SiriusXM show "Radio Andy," Lamar revealed that he and ex-wife Khloe Kardashian are no longer in touch: "Unfortunately, you know, due to my behavior and some bad decisions, we don't really talk any longer," he said, adding that he misses her family "tremendously." Continued the professional basketball player of the Kardashian clan, "[I miss] the personalities [and] just spending time with them. It was one of the best times in my adult life." In his 2019 memoir, Lamar admitted that over the course of their relationship, he cheated on Khloe more times than he can remember. "We have to live with the decisions that we make and then hopefully in time, people heal and [will] be able to forgive me," he told Andy.
People magazine reported on May 20 that Lindsey Vonn is dating actor and Tequila entrepreneur Diego Osorio. "It's new and they're enjoying getting to know each other," said a source, noting that the duo met through mutual friends. A day earlier, the pair were snapped walking arm-in-arm in New York City. (See photos here.) Late last year, the Olympian ended her engagement to professional hockey player PK Subban.
Not this again! According to Page Six, Erica Mena filed to divorce her husband of two years, Safaree Samuels, at Georgia's Fayette County Superior Court on May 21. She's reportedly seeking primary physical custody of their 1-year-old daughter, Safire, child support, attorney fees and the exclusive use of their family home in Georgia. In her divorce paperwork, she notes that the marriage is "irretrievably broken" and there is "no hope of reconciliation." Just three weeks ago, the "Love & Hop Hop" star announced that she and Safaree are expecting their second child together. Things between the couple have been incredibly volatile over the years.
On May 25, Machine Gun Kelly took to Twitter to mark the first anniversary of a major milestone in his relationship with Megan Fox: "She said 'I love you' one year ago today," he tweeted. Aww!
Although Ricki Lake and Ross Burningham got engaged back in February, he didn't put a ring on it until late May. On May 24, the bride-to-be took to Instagram to show off her new engagement bling, captioning a selfie with her beau, "Well, friends, he put a ring on it! #engaged to my magnificent king. I am officially the happiest woman in the land. My dear Ross, I choose you today and everyday!"
Crystal Harris announced on Instagram on May 25 that she "recently ended a yearlong relationship" with Nathan Levi — her first boyfriend following the 2017 death of late husband Hugh Hefner. "I've been surrounding myself with people I love and trying to take things easy lately. I'm healing from things in my life and growing as a person," she captioned a photo of herself, adding that she's "just trying to get myself to a place of happiness and wellness."
"Teen Mom 2" star Briana DeJesus took to her Instagram Story on May 23 to announce that she and tattoo artist Javi Gonzalez are engaged after just eight months of coupledom. "Javi asked & I said YES! We are ENGAGED!" she wrote. The mother of two also shared a TikTok video featuring highlights from her whirlwind romance with her future hubby. "I'm so in love and so excited to start a new chapter with Javi," the bride-to-be told MTV News of her engagement. "He is an incredible man and I can't want to marry him. The ring is beautiful and I've never been this happy!"
"Bringing Up Bates" star Nathan Bates proposed to his girlfriend, Esther Keyes, at a family friend's home in Orlando, Florida, on May 22. The reality star took to Instagram to share a slideshow of photos depicting the proposal, which he captioned, "She said YES!!! I get to marry the girl of my dreams." The bride-to-be, meanwhile, captioned her own slideshow of photos on Instagram, "We're engaged!!! Nathan has treated me like a queen every single day since our relationship began and I am so honored to be his fiancée! I'm overwhelmed with happiness and so thankful to God for bringing us together and making our story beautiful! We are so blessed!"
On the May 23 episode of "90 Day: The Single Life," Colt Johnson and Vanessa Guerra — who got engaged in November after just a month of dating — revealed they'd also eloped. Vanessa said the nuptials went down "about a month ago" during a road trip to Reno, Nevada. (It's unclear when exactly the episode was filmed.) "He's like, 'You want to get married?' And I was like, 'Why not?'" she recalled. Colt added that they exchanged vows in "a chapel by the river" during a "very simple, very basic and private" ceremony. Not even his mother knew they tied the knot! Based on a May 23 post on Colt's Instagram, he and Vanessa are still going strong: "I [would] like to announce that Vanessa is my wife. I married my best friend and despite what others might say, I know we will find our happily ever after. … Love you, Mrs. Johnson," he captioned a slideshow of photos with his new missus.
In other "90 Day Fiancé" marriage news… On May 22, Armando Rubio and Kenneth Niedermeier — the franchise's first same-sex couple — tied the knot at Mansarda winery in Ensenada, Mexico. "It's been a long time coming and we're very happy. We're excited to finally be here," Kenneth told People magazine, which published exclusive wedding photos. "It was a battle in many ways, and so it's surreal to finally be able to get married," added Armando of their nuptials, which were delayed amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Country music singer-songwriter Brooke Eden and her girlfriend of five years, radio promoter Hilary Hoover, are engaged! Hilary popped the question while they were swimming in a private pool at a resort in Sedona, Arizona, on May 13, People magazine reported on May 25. "It was perfect," said Brooke, who'd already made plans to propose to Hilary the following weekend. On May 22, Brooke did just that, popping the question on the rooftop terrace at the Virgin Hotel on Nashville's Music Row, where they were joined by friends, family and their dog. "Her love is bigger than my wildest dreams. She held my hand through the toughest years of our lives and we never let each other go. She's my rock and now she's MY FIANCÉ," the singer captioned a slideshow of photos from the Arizona engagement vacation. Hilary, meanwhile, captioned the same shots on her own Instagram feed, "Thank you for being you and for loving me like you do. Thank you for doing the hard work and finding yourself. Thank you for being brave enough to share our love story with the world and showing others how amazing a love like ours can be. I love you so much and I'd be crazy not to ask you to spend the rest of your life with me. … @brookeedenmusic is my future wifey, y'all!"
According to People magazine, which published exclusive wedding photos, country music singers Hannah Ellis and Nick Wayne tied the knot at the Estate at Cherokee Dock — Reba McEntire's former home in Lebanon, Tennessee — on May 23.
