What Is Cameo? Celebrities, Cost, Live Chat with a Celeb - Parade

When social media first came on the scene, one of the most exciting parts was the newfound access to celebrities. Britney Spears was tweeting?! Drake had an Instagram?! Fans were granted more access than ever before. And now, there’s Cameo, which takes that access to new levels with personalized videos from your favorite stars.

If you’re new to Cameo—or have only heard of it, never used it before—there’s a lot to catch up on when it comes to this video-based platform. From what it is, which celebs are on it, and how much an experience from each celeb costs, here’s everything you need to know about Cameo.

Cameo is a video-sharing platform that was created by Steve Galanis, Martin Blencowe, and Devon Spinnler Townsend in 2016. The concept behind Cameo is to create a place where celebrities and other public figures can offer their entertainment services—namely, personalized video messages for fans—for a price.

Celebrities set their own rates and create everything from birthday, anniversary, and “just because” messages. In addition to pre-recorded personalized messages, Cameo now has “live chat” options enabled for some celebs as well. Cameo officially launched in 2017 and as of 2021, more than 40,000 celebs and public figures have joined the platform.

Which Celebrities Are on Cameo?

There are a lot of different celebrities on Cameo—like, more than 40,000 of them! You can find stars from just about every entertainment category there is: athletes, reality TV stars, musicians, actors, politicians, comedians, content creators, and more. You’ll even find some public figures that don’t exactly fit into the “celebrity” category: for example, Ken Bone, the guy in the red sweater who went viral after the 2016 presidential debate.
