Colonels Make Short Trip To Face Northern Kentucky Wednesday - EKU Sports

RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky and Northern Kentucky will meet Wednesday at Truist Arena in Highland Heights.
 
The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and will air live on ESPN+.  The live radio broadcast of the game is available in the Richmond area on WCYO 100.7 FM, and can be heard worldwide on EKUSports.com.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  The Colonels lead the all-time series 7-4.  The first meeting between the two teams was Nov. 26, 1977.  The most recent meeting came on Dec. 18, 2021, with EKU winning 81-68 in overtime. 
 
-  In last year's game, Eastern Kentucky out-scored Northern Kentucky 17-4 in overtime.  After exchanging baskets to start the extra frame, the Colonels scored seven unanswered to seize control.  Cooper Robb finished with 19 points, five rebounds and four steals.  Devontae Blanton added 16 points and six boards.  Marques Warrick led NKU with 22 points.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU moved to 5-5 this season after a 140-79 win over Boyce on Saturday.
 
Michael Moreno set new program records for 3-pointers (11) and 3-point attempts (22) in the win over Boyce.  As a team the Colonels handed out a new program record 35 assists.
 
-  Moreno finished with a career-high 35 points on Saturday, the most by an ASUN player this season.
 
-  Isaiah Cozart set new career-highs for field goals (6), field goal attempts (8), assists (2), steals (3) and points (13) against Boyce.
 
Leland Walker was chosen as the ASUN Newcomer of the Week on Monday.  In two games last week, Walker averaged 17 points, four assists, two rebounds and 1.5 steals.  He shot 50 percent from the field (10-for-20), 46 percent from 3-point range (5-for-11) and hit on 82 percent (9-for-11) at the free throw line.
 
-  EKU is seventh in the nation in 3-pointers made per game, 10th in scoring, 13th in steals and 19th in rebounds.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Northern Kentucky if 5-5 this season and off to a 2-0 start in the Horizon League.  The Norse handed Cincinnati a 64-51 defeat on Nov. 16.  NKU is coming off a 68-47 loss at Washington State last Wednesday.   
 
-  Warrick, a 6-foot-2 junior guard, leads the team in scoring at 20.4 points per game.  He has shot 46 percent from the field and 41 percent from 3-point range.  Warrick's 45 points on Nov. 27 against Tennessee Tech are the most points scored in a game this season by any D-I player.
 
-  Chris Brandon, a 6-foot-8 220-pound forward, leads the team with 10.6 rebounds per game and scores 5.8 points per contest.  No other NKU player averages more than 3.8 rebounds per game.
 
-  Northern Kentucky has allowed its opponents to shoot 45 percent from the field this season and 40 percent from 3-point range.
 
-  The Norse average just 13 turnovers per game and have limited their opponents to six steals per game.
