I'm A Celeb 2020: Fans think stars knew about Ruthie and Russell - Metro.co.uk

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! viewers believe the campmates already knew about the two new arrivals – Russell Watson and Ruthie Henshall.

The two latecomers will join the 10 contestants currently living it up in the Welsh castle during tonight’s show.

Tuesday’s action-packed episode saw Jordan North, Vernon Kay and Beverley Callard win 10 stars for camp after taking part in a gruesome eating trial.

After they enjoyed a luxury meal, hosts Ant and Dec went into camp to break the news of who was doing the next trial.

However, when the comedy duo explained all of them would be doing the task, Shane Richie can be heard saying ‘R and R, R and R.’

While it is not confirmed what the soap star meant by this comment, some eagle-eyed viewers think it has something to do with Russell and Ruthie’s arrivals.

Taking to Twitter one viewer commented: ‘So they knew about the two others joining Shane Richie caught saying don’t worry it’s R and R.’

While another said: ‘Does Shane know who’s joining? Cos he said “R and R…Stage Fright” And it’s Ruthie and Russell!’

One added: ‘Ant and Dec trying to claim the celebs don’t know about the new camp mates yet Shane’s shouting R&R and Victoria says so they will be doing it.’

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, ahead of his stint on the show, Russell, 53, revealed he’d been asked on numerous occasions to appear on the show, however, the timing this year felt right.

‘I’ve been asked six times,’ he said. ‘I got asked at the beginning of this year, before covid, and I don’t know why, but this year it felt like a different challenge.

‘I fancied doing something different. I’m known for my singing and being on stage and my classical repertoire, but I don’t think anybody has really got to know my personality really well.’

Explaining her reason behind signing up to the series, Ruthie, also 53, added: ‘I think it’s such a life experience. How often are you going to get someone coming up to you saying we’re going to put you through your paces and scare you silly and test everything about you?

‘I thought it would be a real hoot and so lovely to meet a bunch of people who aren’t really in my arena.’

Metro.co.uk has reached out to ITV for comment.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
