I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here viewers have noticed the Saturday shows are a little different to the weeknight shows, with unseen clips and a recap being shown instead.

On Friday’s show, hosts Ant and Dec promised that the weekend edition would be more than a look-back at the past week, with brand new clips of the celebrities being shown this week.

But why is Saturday’s episode of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here not live?

Well, the reason is pretty simple – it’s to give the contestants a night off from all the gross trials and stressful public vote.

The show is filmed in a similar format to Love Island, where contestants are also given the Saturday off to enjoy the sunshine without having to take part in challenges.

This year’s version of I’m A Celeb is the first to be filmed in the UK rather than Australia, due to travel and quarantine restrictions imposed by the coronavirus pandemic.

The celebrities have been living in Gwrych Castle in Wales, having to face the cold and critters in very different settings to normal.

Prior to entering the castle, AJ Pritchard had revealed on the AJ vs Curtis podcast that the campmates were advised to change their sleeping pattern as they would be expected to stay up late to film the trials

He explained: ‘The trial won’t take place until, like, 1am so we’ve been told to do that.

‘It has helped because for me, the sleep is probably the hardest thing to change more than food or caffeine. So I’ve been going to bed at 2.30am and waking up at 11am.’

The live shows resume on a Sunday each week, when viewers can see what the campmates have been up to on their day off.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here airs weekdays from 9pm on ITV.
