I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! star Beverley Callard had quite the response to being told she couldn't take part in the latest trial on medical grounds.

During last night's (November 23) instalment, Ant & Dec popped down to camp to reveal who was going to do the Cruel Jewels trial, and explained doctors had ruled Beverley out.

"I'm not a wuss," Beverley said, to which Ant & Dec noted that it was because of medical reasons.

Beverley underwent a major hip operation earlier this year, and in September said that complications had left her unable to walk unaided. If she hadn't recovered any further, it's unlikely she'd have been able to take part in the show this year.

The actress told Metro before heading into the castle that she is taking it very seriously, stating: "I would hate it if they said, 'Beverley can't take part in this because of medical reasons'.

"I don't want to be thought of as a wuss. Definitely not. That would drive me insane... I've worked my socks off to be here."

Meanwhile, Beverley's husband Jon McEwan has said that he intends to marry the Coronation Street actress again once she leaves the ITV reality show.

I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! airs every night at 9pm on ITV.
