I'm A Celebrity Fans Say They Feel Jealous Of Contestants' 'Freedom' - Tyla

Viewers watching I'm A Celeb have said they're "jealous" that the campmates have the freedom to touch and hug.

Since the ITV show arrived back on our screens earlier this month, it's looked a lot different, taking place in a Covid-secure castle in Wales as opposed to the Australian jungle.

And to make the show as secure as possible, ITV has introduced a series of safety measures. For example, the campmates were required to isolate for two weeks before the show, in order to create a bubble, and have been tested every three days for Covid-19.

The number of crew meanwhile has been halved, and teams have to wear buzzers which sound an alarm if anyone gets too close.

Meanwhile Ant and Dec have limited access to crew and contestants, and are also tested every three days as an extra precaution.

And with most of us being unable to hug our loved ones for months on end, many viewers have been expressing their envy at how much freedom the celebs have.

One wrote: "The contestants on Im a Celeb have more freedom than 99% of the country! I usually feel sorry for them, now im watching it with a little envy."

While another said: "Jealous of everyone on @imacelebrity hugging."

"Pretty depressing we're sat here in a lockdown watching I'm a celeb and there all dancing away hugging and singing, wow jealous," added one.

"I'm watching tonight's im a celeb and it's actually making me so jealous seeing everyone hug hugging people," tweeted another fan.

The measures were shared under ITV's "Covid management plan" with Richard Cowles, director of entertainment at ITV Studios, explaining: "Everyone on the production team has worked incredibly hard to bring I'm A Celebrity to Wales and a massive part of making that possible has been developing our protocols around Covid.

"We have worked with ITV's independent chief medical officer Dr Paul Litchfield, ITV's health and safety department, and our own health and safety and medical teams to keep everyone connected with the production - both in front of and behind the camera - as safe as possible."
