Billie Eilish has often used her platform as one of the current biggest pop stars to discuss how toxic body shaming can be.

Last year, Billie explained in a Calvin Klein ad that the reason she wears baggy clothes is to avoid body shaming. "I never want the world to know everything about me," she said. "I mean, that’s why I wear big baggy clothes: Nobody can have an opinion, because they haven’t seen what’s underneath, you know?"

She opened up about struggling with body image issues in an interview with Vogue. "I just hated my body. I would have done anything to be in a different one," she explained. "I really wanted to be a model, really bad, and I was chubby and short."

Billie also said in an interview with BBC Breakfast that the negative comments about her affected her so much that they were "ruining her life."

Back in early March, Billie headed on a world tour, where she unveiled a powerful short film about body shaming as an interlude, addressing people's unwelcomed opinions about her body.

Her words resonated with fans, who shared their support at her concert with cheers, and took to social media to share footage of the film.

Now that the tour has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Billie shared the short film, titled Not My Responsibility, on YouTube and social media.

In the video, Billie removes her clothing as she addresses people's harmful opinions in a voiceover.

"Would you like me to be smaller? Weaker? Softer? Taller? Would you like me to be quiet? Do my shoulders provoke you? Does my chest? Am I my stomach? My hips? The body I was born with, is it not what you wanted?"

"If I wear what is comfortable, I am not a woman. If I shed layers, I'm a slut. Though you've never seen my body, you still judge it – and judge me for it. Why make assumptions about people based on their size?"

Billie Eilish

"We decide who they are. We decide what they're worth. If I wear more, if I wear less – who decides what that makes me? What that means? Is my value based only on your perception? Or is your opinion of me not my responsibility?"

Fans who watched the film were so proud of her for taking a stand against those who've shamed her.

Billie Eilish is really redifining and creating a circumstance in which the societal norms placed on women as opposed to where denominating combobulants could be is astounding. A force this talented is a once in a million lifetimes’ opportunity.

Dealing with people's negativity isn't easy, but Billie's making sure people knows she's going to stick true to who she is – and I applaud her so much for it!
