PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Mayor Mark Sheldon has asked Governor DeSantis to lift the short-rental ban.

There are nearly 8,000 registered rentals in Panama City Beach. As hotels and motels have been able to continue to operate, Sheldon wants some equality between the two hospitality sectors.
"It is the lifeblood of our community, along with hotels and motels," said Sheldon. "What I was looking for was a little bit of parity between the two."
Florida is still in phase one of its reopening plan.
