I’m A Celebrity 2020’s first celebrity to sign up ‘revealed’ as they drop big hint - Express

It's that time again when we're all thinking ahead to our dose of jungle madness as I'm A Celebrity looms ever closer. But with all that's going on, it's left us wondering what shows will and won't be going ahead in the coming year.

Regardless of the uncertainty surrounding British TV, ITV seem to be looking towards a bright future, after bosses suggested the series was "likely" to go ahead this year despite the coronavirus pandemic.

And it seems we have our first hint as to who will be taking on the challenge.

Former footballing legend John Barnes, has boldly confirmed he will take on anything the producers have to throw at him during the month long stint.

Speaking to Bonus Code Bets about the possibility of him appearing on the show, he said: "I’ve done a number of shows in my days, from Family Fortune to Strictly Come Dancing but nothing as adventurous as I’m a Celeb.

"And to be honest, there’s nothing that I wouldn’t eat or anything I wouldn’t do... I’m fairly easy-going, if they asked me to do something, I'd do it."

He continued: “And from the point of view of eating anything, I eat everything and anything, so I’d probably be ideal for the show.

"The only fear I have is of sharks so by saying this I’m sure they’re going to put me in a tank with sharks but I guess that’s the nature of the game... but everything else I would be fine with," he insisted.

But the challenge isn't the only thing on his mind.

"Similar to why I went on to do Strictly Come Dancing all those year’s ago, it’d be good to lose some weight, perhaps try to beat Nick Knowles 2 stone weight loss," he said.

John also took part in hit reality show Harry’s Heroes: The Full English, where former King of the Jungle Harry Redknapp aims to get ex footballers back into shape.

When asked if he'd been given any tips for jungle life, John said: "I believe Harry nearly didn’t make the trip to Oz after being scared by Razor’s jungle stories… I bet he’s happy he decided to go in the end! And it takes more than a few tales from Razor to scare me off."

Earlier this month, ITV's Kevin Lygo told the Edinburgh Television Festival that bosses were looking for alternatives just incase the 2020 series is prohibited to run.

But as always, predictions of other famous faces who might be throwing their hats in the ring for a chance to be crowed King or Queen the jungle, have begun.

BBC's Matt Baker is among those thought to be joining and has admitted in the past he wouldn’t rule it out.

Speaking to Hello! magazine he said: “I haven’t had any conversations yet but I am reluctant to say no to anything without having a good think about it.”

We've also seen more soap actors and actresses grace our screens than ever before on the show, such as last year's winner EastEnders' Jacqueline Jossa, Corrie’s Jennie McAlpine and Hollyoaks star Jorgie Porter.

And now former cobbles favourite Lucy Fallon, is thought to be signing up after stepping away from her soap role earlier this year.

And once again, Piers Morgan has made it back on the list of names.

It was looking pretty likely last year, but not until he demanded a huge payout for him to take the plunge.

He told The Sun Online how he demanded a whopping £5million on the show: “Like I said, £5 million and I’ll come and munch kangaroo testicles. Not a penny less,” he said.

He named his price after jungle hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly said they would do anything to make it happen.

With Piers becoming a figurehead in the war agaisnt coronavirus, he could do with a getaway!

I'm A Celeb is set to return later this year.
