RAPID CITY, S.D. — Rapid City Police responded to a call about shots fired in south Rapid City early Tuesday, which led to a short pursuit.
According to Sergeant Marc Cote with the RCPD, officers responded to the 200 block between Saint Andrew Street and Saint Patrick Street around 2:30 Tuesday morning.
While investigating they found a black car leaving the area. They were able to stop the car but the driver attempted to flee the scene, leading police on a short pursuit before it crashed into a fence on Prairie Avenue.
One person was driving the car but they were not taken into custody. A firearm was recovered at the scene of the crash but no details at this time on whether or not it is connected to the report of gun shots.
