Celebrity haunt Cipriani Downtown — known as a fave for models such as Kendall Jenner, and a reported “hunting ground” for now-incarcerated movie mogul Harvey Weinstein — has lost its liquor license for not adhering to coronavirus-related regulations.
On Friday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said that a task force led by the State Police and New York State Liquor Authority conducted checks statewide.
A press release related that on Tuesday, “following numerous complaints, [SLA chairman Vincent Bradley] conducted a compliance check” on Cipriani Downtown, and found “17 patrons drinking and standing around tables with no chairs in front of the business, most without facial coverings.”
It further stated, “The Chairman entered the premises and observed an employee behind the bar with no facial covering and four patrons purchasing alcoholic beverages at the bar, in direct violation” of executive orders.
A rep for Cipriani said: “Liquor license is suspended, not lost.”
In 2018, prosecutors claimed Weinstein used Cipriani hot spots as “hunting grounds” for women, but a rep for Cipriani said at the time: “To our knowledge, no assault or improprieties of any kind were reported at the time of the alleged incidents.”
