SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Despite roaring back to win sets three and four and force a deciding fifth set, DePaul volleyball dropped a BIG EAST battle with Seton Hall at Walsh Gymnasium on Friday night.

How it Happened
Set One: The Blue Demons fell behind 9-3 early in the first set, but the Blue Demons battled back to come within two (11-13) on a Nelson tip on the outside. Underwood's kill off a block touch-maintained DePaul's deficit at two, before the Pirates ballooned their lead back to five on-back-to-back kills. A three-point DePaul run was answered by consecutive points from Seton Hall to force the Blue Demons to take a second timeout trailing 22-18. Seton Hall outlasted the Blue Demons and grabbed the first set, 25-20.

Set Two: Seton Hall used a four-point run to take a 7-4 advantage and force the Blue Demons into an early huddle. The Pirates continued their momentum in what turned into an 8-0 run and 12-4 deficit for the Blue Demons. DePaul used a 7-1 scoring spurt to claw within five points, 24-19, but it wasn't enough as The Hall went on to claim the set and take a 2-0 lead on the match.

Set Three: DePaul opened the third with a 5-0 lead with Krasowski behind the service line. Seton Hall bounced back to even the score at 8-8 on a Blue Demons attack error. A Nelson kill from the right side pushed DePaul's lead to 20-16 before the Pirates closed the gap at 21-19. An Underwood kill and Seton Hall attack error claimed the set for DePaul 25-21.

Set Four: The Blue Demons utilized momentum from set three into set four, jumping out to an 11-4 lead. Three-consecutive DePaul errors narrowed the lead to four at 13-9. Pressly's 17th kill of the night put the Blue Demons on top 18-12. DePaul evened the match 2-2 with a 25-16 set-four victory. The Blue Demons hit .361 while holding the Pirates to .068 attack efficiency.

Set Five: DePaul won four of the first five rallies before Seton Hall evened the score at five. Underwood slammed down her 16th kill of the match to put DePaul in front 9-7. The Pirates took their first lead of the set on a block on the right side. The Blue Demons came within one before a service error widened Seton Hall's lead 13-11 to force DePaul's second and final timeout. Back-to-back kills from Nelson and Kindelberger knotted the score once again at 13. Seton Hall went on to claim the set 15-13 and the match 3-2.

Up Next: The Blue Demons will close out their East Coast road swing with a short trip to St. John's on Saturday, Oct. 8. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m. CT from Carnesecca Arena. Fans can catch the action on ESPN3.
