Kandesent was formed back in 2018 by two friends in response to the lack of female-specific cycle wear for more regular-sized riders.
The Cruise jersey, shown here in the Feather print (one of five collections) is form-shaping without being skin tight. The UK size 10/12 frame fits the larger size perfectly.
The lightweight polyester fabric is silky smooth and all the seams are flatlocked so they don’t irritate your skin. A broad mesh panel down the back and panels under the arms help keep you cool.
The three generous rear pockets include a weatherproof zipped one for a phone. The back of the jersey is cut a little longer so it sits on your hips and the deep elasticated hem stops it riding up. It’s beautifully made, comfortable and stayed dry, even when riding in the heat this summer.
The All Day shorts are great for long, hot summer rides, and they’re far more practical than bib shorts when it comes to comfort stops.
The cut is flattering – the waist sits low across your midriff at the front and is cut high at the back to maintain your modesty in the riding position. The waistband is the same 1.5in elastic as the jersey hem, but there is a band-free section at the front so as not to dig in to your tummy.
The leg bands use the same wide elastic rib on the outside, with silicone grippers as on the rear waistband, and rely on the elasticity of the Lycra on the inner panels, so no sausage legs!
They stay put, although the length is a couple of inches above the knee so they’re best for hot days. The pad is plush, deep and wide and its rippled surface is very comfortable with no embarrassing ‘bulge’.
