Remember at the end of Gossip Girl, how Kristen Bell’s voiceover said something along the lines of: “There’ll always be a Gossip Girl,” then we see the next generation of Upper East Side kids reading GG blasts from whoever took over the account? Well, that’s pretty much what’s happened to the IRL Gossip Girl, Celeb Spellcheck, as after she announced that she was ending her glorious reign of terror, a bunch of other Celeb Spellcheck accounts have popped up in her place.

All the accounts have variations of the Celeb Spellcheck handle and a bunch of them even have the same Judge Judy pic and judge emoji.

This first one, which appeared two days ago, has already amassed 31.7k followers and has even been blocked by an influencer already (one Sophie Cachia, who was v. vocal in her disdain of the OG Celeb Spellcheck).

The account did an Instagram Q&A a coupla days back where they answered a bunch of fan questions and during the sesh, they claimed that they were the OG Celeb Spellcheck who had returned from retirement but, soz, I don’t buy it.

This next one promises that they “won’t delete content or censor comments,” telling followers to “go wild.”

Their first piccy is this iconic Jules Sebastian number, which was first spotted by the original gal (it also made our list of the 10 best Celeb Spellcheck moments).

Then there’s this one, which has a different Judge Judy piccy:

And this private account with an Elle Woods pic, ya know, just to shake it up:

These are literally just a few of MANY wannabe accounts that have popped up in the wake of Celeb Spellcheck. Just go check Insta’s search tab and you’ll see.

The mysterious gossip guru (or day I say it, gOsSiP gIrL) behind the account sent out a blast, informing users that she was calling it quits, but promised that the reason was not “scandalous.”

Have a read of her message below:

“Hi everyone, as you know I have spent some time thinking about the future of this account. After weighing up many options, the time has come to say goodbye to Celeb Spellcheck.

The account, whose original purpose was to call influencers out on their various gaffes and errors, became hugely popular in recent months, and it seems it’s all a bit much.

This account has become too big, too powerful and too time-consuming for me to enjoy running it anymore. There is no scandalous reason behind this decision – I’m not being threatened or sued or controlled in any way.

I will be permanently deleting the account tomorrow. Thank you so much to everyone who has followed and supported the page.”

Like the mythical Hydra, you slay one beast, and several others pop up in its place. These myths exist for a reason, my friends. Ya just can’t kill drama.
