Kandy Muse defied the odds, and the haters, to make it to the "RuPaul's Drag Race" final.

The Bronx queen was seen as an underdog throughout the competition, despite winning her first lip sync. She got into a heated backstage argument with Tamisha Iman. She almost went home after flailing during "Social Media: The Unverified Rusical." But RuPaul wasn't ready to let Kandy go.

QUEEN SYMONE: 'There's hope. That’s what I want my reign to be.'

Kandy then used the missteps to fuel her fire. She went on to the final four, coming is as the runner-up to Symone. She may be sitting alone in VIP, but she's doing it as a Season 13 standout.

What's important to you moving forward from the finale?

I think what I want people to do is to not discredit any of the contestants just based on track record. I think people have these unwritten rules that they've made up themselves watching "Drag Race" throughout the years that they need to hella let go. There are really no rules. It really comes down to what RuPaul likes and what you do. I think people just need to enjoy and really bask in the moment of the finale.

What were your expectations when you walked into that werk room? No one comes in thinking, "I want to come in sixth!"

Going into "Drag Race," I think everyone wants to win, everyone wants to be the mean girl, everyone wants to be the one to have all the GIFs, the popular girl, the fan favorite. But I think in reality, when I walked into "Drag Race," I know the star quality I bring to the table. I'm trying to be humble about it. But I know when I get in front of the camera, I light up the world. I wanted to be myself and be a bad bitch and see if I can make any sisters along the road and no enemies. I think I succeeded in most parts. I think going to "Drag Race," for future girls, just go in and be yourself because nothing can prepare you for the ride. You truly learn so much about yourself while being there.

Where did that Kandy Muse confidence come from?

Growing up, I never had love for myself. I had a lot of self-hatred for many, many years. One day I looked in the mirror and was like, "Bitch, get it together. You are an amazing person, and you have so much offer. But you can't offer anything to the world unless you love yourself." It's like RuPaul says. It's just about finding self-love, which is why I say now I'm delusional. Because now I love myself way too much. Nothing that anyone says can get under my skin.

What was the biggest change in you through the process of the show?

Walking into "Drag Race" on the very first day, I thought that I knew it all. I thought that I was the big, bad wolf in the room. The reality is, getting critiqued throughout the season, you start to grow, you start to learn. Those walls that you built going into "Drag Race" start to come down as you get to know the queens more and the judges and seeing what you can work on. I feel like a completely different person than I did on the very first day of "Drag Race."

You gave us lots of leg in your short-shorts. How many do you own?

Let me tell you something. Even if they are long jeans or short that go to my knees, I get a pair of scissors and I cut them to very, very, short-shorts. There's been times when I've cut them too short and turned them into a skirt. I love short-shorts. If you have something, show it off.  To me, I'm just wearing my shorts. I just love showing my legs.

You saw yourself as an underdog. Do you think you were underestimated by others?

I think people still underestimate me because when you ask people whose team they're on, they usually don't say Team Kandy Muse. What they feel is that if you're track record isn't at the top of the top, that you're not in it for the crown. What people fail to realize is that "Drag Race" is like a baseball game. Your scores throughout the season matter to get you to the next episode. Once you hit that final episode, it is the World Series, and it is anyone's game.

Your smackdown with Tamisha Iman is up for best fight at the MTV Movie & TV Awards. Who knew?

Here's the thing. When the argument happened, while we were filming the show, I was like, "OK, two girls going at it. It is what it is." Tamisha got eliminated, and we continued to film the rest of the season. I never thought about it again until it aired, and then social media went wild. That was so many episodes ago, and I knew that my trajectory throughout the show was more than just that "Untucked" moment. To go online and see that MTV nominated me for an award, I was like, "Oh, OK, well you know what, work" because it actually made great television.

You performed in Houston not long ago. What comes to mind?

Ooh, good food and cute boys. I love going to Texas. It really is one of my favorite states to visit. I was talking about this with the other top four girls, and specifically with Rosé because she's from Texas. They treat us like we're Beyoncé. And I live.
