Alec Baldwin could face criminal charges in Halyna Hutchins' death
Hollywood is still reeling from the accidental shooting death of Halyna Hutchins, who was killed last week on the set of "Rust" by a prop gun Alec Baldwin was handling. The actor had been handed the weapon after assistant director, Dave Halls, incorrectly announced it was a "cold gun," or a gun that contains no live rounds. So what's next for Alec? Mary Carmack-Altwies, the Santa Fe district attorney, told the New York Times her team is not "ruling out" criminal charges against Alec. She also said the investigation is currently focused on what kind of ammunition killed Halyna and who loaded the gun. According to legal experts interviewed by People in a report published Oct. 26, Alec could bear "criminal culpability" for Halnya's death, given his producer role on the film. Trial lawyer David Ring said the actor would probably be named in a wrongful death suit if Halyna's family files one. As the investigation continues, Deadline reported this week that "conversations are underway" at the major TV studios regarding guns and/or live ammo and blanks on sets; multiple showrunners and directors have already vowed on social media to use digital effects instead. In a separate report, Halyna's father, Anatoly Androsovych, told The Sun, "I don't hold Alec Baldwin responsible [for Halyna's death] — it is the responsibility of the props people who handle the guns."

Chrissy Teigen announces she's 100 days sober
Chrissy Teigen is 100 days sober and counting. In her first TV interview since a cyberbullying scandal sent her into apology mode over the summer, the model and cooking expert sat down with Hoda Kotb on the Oct. 26 edition of the "Today" show. "I'm actually 100 days sober today and I'm so excited," Chrissy said. "I feel so good, I feel very clear-headed. I feel like I've done the work and I just hope these people can forgive and be able to welcome the fact that hopefully they've seen me be better." She was referring to Courtney Stodden and others who've come forward to accuse Chrissy of attacking them online. As for the drinking, Chrissy explained that she's been aware it was a problem for some time. "I've been struggling with it honestly, for the past couple of years when I knew it was kind of an issue," she said. "Just even like doing interviews and things like I would think I needed a glass of wine, and then it just started to get embarrassing like at award shows and things and everyone memes it and thinks it's funny and cute that you fell asleep or something." She said she decided she didn't want to "be the messy one" or forget what she might have said to whom the night before. "That's so embarrassing and then it was just not worth it," she said. Chrissy also connected her past bullying to the changes she's made in her life. "I think you learn so much in the moments where you do lose so much, you lose it all, your world is kind of turned upside down," she said. "For me it was a big moment of, 'Wow, I need to find out how I can be better, how I can grow from this, learn from this.'" Chrissy, who shares two children with husband John Legend also said she wants her children to learn how to treat others by example.
Shanna Moakler posts cryptic quote, red lipstick emoji after Travis Barker covered her name on his arm
Travis Barker's ex-wife, Shanna Moakler, seems to have responded on Instagram to the drummer's decision to cover up a heart tattoo emblazoned with her name as he prepares to marry Kourtney Kardashian. Travis kicked off the week by sharing photos of the inside of his arm, where Shanna's name used to be. His skin — and Shanna's tribute tattoo — are now covered in a giant black scorpion whose tail points to a pair of black lips traced from Kourtney's black lipstick blot. After Travis and his tattoo artist showed off the new ink on Oct. 25, Shanna hopped on her Instagram Story to share a screenshot from 1993's "Point of No Return." According to Page Six, the post also included a quote from the movie — a line that read, "I never did mind about the little things" — and a red lipstick emoji. Shanna's post comes a week after Travis popped the question to Kourtney. As the lovebirds gushed about their wedding plans on social media that weekend, Shanna announced on Instagram that her account would be "temporarily closed for spiritual maintenance." Shanna had a tattoo of Travis's name removed via laser back in May, telling followers in a video of the process, "It's my ex's name. Don't tattoo names on your body, kids."
Gwyneth Paltrow says she 'nearly died' giving birth to her daughter
Gwyneth Paltrow revealed this week that giving birth to her daughter, Apple Martin, nearly killed her — and Apple. The "Sex, Love & goop" host, 49, stopped by Dax Shepard and Monica Padman's "Armchair Expert" podcast, on which she reflected on the ways her body has changed since she and her ex, Chris Martin, welcomed Apple, 17, and their son, Moses, 15. "I had two cesareans. My daughter was an emergency. It was crazy — we almost died. It was, like, not good," Gwyneth explained (via People). "Anyway, there's a big scar across your body, and you're like, 'Oh, wow, that didn't use to be there.' And it's not that it's bad, or you want to judge it, but you're just like, 'Oh, my God.'" Gwyneth also noted she's relieved there was no Instagram in 2004 and 2006 when she had kids because of the unrealistic pressure on moms today to conform to would-be body ideals. "Now it's like if I see someone, 'Oh, I just gave birth two weeks ago and I have a completely washboard stomach,' and I'm like, 'Wow that's not what I [looked like],' … more power to the lady with the washboard [abs] but that is totally the exception and then now we're being fed all of these other images of what we're supposed to look like all the time," she said.

Zendaya's fans irked about her lack of 'Dune' screen time
After weeks of Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya-centric promotional lead-up to the recent release of "Dune," Zendaya's fans are feeling cheated. That's because, as Vulture's Zoe Haylock points out, the "Euphoria" star only appears in the movie, which is more than two and a half hours long, for just under seven minutes. "The credits were longer than Zendaya's camera time in Dune," griped one Twitter user this week. "Now see, all the Dune fans coming out like 'Well if you had read the book you'd know her character isn't….,'" another balked. "I don't want to read the book I want to see Zendaya." Said a third: "Gotta give Zendaya credit. She's been working that #Dune promotional tour like someone who had more than five lines in the movie. Attagirl." On the bright side, we now have confirmation from filmmaker Denis Villeneuve that his studio "deal right at the start" included a promise that he could make "at least two movies" to tell the epic story based on Frank Hebert's cult classic sci-fi novel. If the second part is faithful to the book, we should see a lot more of Zendaya's character then — we'll just have to wait until it's out in 2023.
Britney Spears slams family for hurting her: 'I want justice'
Britney Spears is done being let down by her family, The singer, 39, shared a scathing Instagram post this week in which she warned loved ones she's no longer making herself "available" to those who won't return the favor. Sharing a photo of a mini typewriter alongside a handful of pink roses, Britney wrote, in part: "Don't you find it weird when you jump through hoops to organize trips or set up lunch dates with people you love only to know they'll bail on you or leave after 10 minutes??? It's humiliating and it's like every person I've ever opened to immediately says they'll be gone on a trip for two weeks after … OK I get it … they're only available to me when it's convenient for them … well I'm no longer available to any of them now!!!" Britney went on to say she doesn't "mind being alone," but she's "tired of being this understanding Mother Teresa," when people let her down. "If you're rude to me then I'm done … peace out!!!" She then specifically called out her relatives for causing her pain. "This message is to my family … for hurting me deeper than you'll ever know!!!" Britney said, adding, "the conservatorship is about to be over but I still want justice!!! I'm only 5'4″ and I've played the bigger person my entire life … do you know how hard that is???" It was the latest in a series of posts that have seen Britney speak out about her family in less than glowing terms. Her father, Jamie Spears, was recently suspended as conservator of her estate, but she's made it clear she holds him primarily responsible for the past 13 years of what she described in a hearing earlier this year as "conservatorship abuse." The next hearing is slated for Nov. 12.

Kim Kardashian: Kanye West 'will always be the most inspirational person to me'
Kim Kardashian West's soon-to-be ex-husband, Kanye West, reportedly helped her prepare for her "Saturday Night Live" hosting gig earlier this month. And it seems 'Ye's also still a stakeholder in Kim's shapewear brand, SKIMS. "He has a piece of SKIMS himself and gives [the team] inspiration but also information. I think he enjoys the process," she recently told WSJ Magazine, which named the reality star its 2021 Brand Innovator for creating the wildly popular line. "Kanye will always be the most inspirational person to me," she explained. Kim, who debuted a new SKIMS collaboration with Fendi this week, filed for divorce from the rapper and designer in February.
