Is it just me, or do the new celebrity couples feel very... random? - Cosmopolitan UK

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. Kate Middleton and Prince William. Landon Barker and Charli D'Amelio. Like Netflix and chill, there are celebrity couples that just. Make. Sense. In fact, Hollywood is full of them; perfect pairs pour onto the red carpet every month, post endless loved up selfies and take over our Twitter timelines with cute quotes from exclusive interviews.

But is it just me, or do some of the new celebrity couples feel a bit... random recently? Is there not a somewhat wild would-never-have-imagined-that quality to the matches sprouting up right now?

Take Leonardo DiCaprio and Gigi Hadid for starters, who were first linked when they were photographed together in New York, after meeting at a fashion week party days earlier. Reports quickly flooded the internet, claiming he'd "always had a soft spot" for her, adding that he thought she was a "cool character" who was "very cultured."

Sorry, what? 47-year-old Leo of Titanic fame and Gigi Hadid, 27, who most recently split from Zayn Malik, and is allegedly two years older than any girlfriend DiCaprio's ever had? Dating? Really? Why does it feel like these two come from different celebrity spheres, and the pair of them getting together is just, well, confusing?

It seems I'm not the only one struggling with the idea. "Ain’t no way Gigi and Leo are actually together? That is so random," one person wrote on Twitter, while another put, "This is weird cuz [sic] Gigi and Leo feel like they exist in different multiverses."

Then there's Brad Pitt, 58, previously married to Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie, who's reportedly dating Emily Ratajowski, 31. News broke in July that she and husband of four years Sebastian Bear McClard had divorced, while reports surfaced in August that she and Pitt are apparently A Thing™ now. Gossip site @DeuxMoi shared submissions that they were having intimate dinners left, right and centre, while Page Six says we should "stay tuned" for Bratajkowski's era.

Supermodels and A-list actors shouldn't ~feel~ like a weird match, but I'm (alongside the rest of the internet) having a hard time getting my head around it. "Brad Pitt dating Emily Ratjkowski seems super random to me," one fan put on Twitter, while another said, "First Leo & Gigi. Now this???" Amen, honestly.

Most recently, Dua Lipa, 27, and Trevor Noah, 38 from The Daily Show were linked on 30 September, after photos of them emerged kissing and hugging after going for dinner together. An onlooker claimed they were "clearly into each other" and "sat close" during a meal, before leaving the restaurant and "stopping for long embraces and on the second kiss with hugs."

As one of my colleagues put it: "Literally what on earth."

Next under the celebrity microscope was Khloé Kardashian and 365 Days actor Michele Morrone, who went viral when they were pictured looking a little bit cosy at Milan Fashion Week. While a TMZ source insists they're not dating, others claimed he was a "new flame", and fans were surprised to see Koko with someone other than an NBA basketball player.

As for Yung Gravy and Addison Rae's mum, who kissed on the VMAs red carpet? Let's just say, publicity stunt or not, that's another celebrity pairing I didn't have on my 2022 bingo card.

Of course, that's not to say we won't all grow to love these celebrity matches as the months go on. I fully plan to participate in the internet frenzy if Gigi soft launches the relationship with Leo's arm on Instagram; or if Em Rata's next TikTok references Brad's skincare range.

And who says unexpected pairings aren't the best, anyway? Just look at Pete Davidson and Kim Kardashian, er, that rosé wine and jalepeño trend.
